Miraj, in India, houses the sitar and tanpura makers who have been building musical instruments out of bottle gourds for the past two centuries. These musical instruments hold a pivotal role in Indian classical music. However, with the invention of electric versions of the same instruments, their two-century-old business is in jeopardy.
