On an event called Supercar Sunday in Assen, the owner of the Furori racing team took part in the time attack series; an event in which supercar owners can go around the track to try and set the fastest time. The driver Cees Lubbers lost control over the Donkervoort in the last corner of the track and crashed into the barrier. About a minute after coming to a halt, the car suddenly caught fire.
