In early filmmaking, stop-motion was the way everything was shot. Until Godzilla came along. With just six months to film instead of the needed 7 years, Ishiro Honda had to find a new way to film his monster movie. So he swapped the traditional method for suitmation — actors wearing latex suits and wrecking havoc on miniature sets — thus changing the industry forever.
